Lighthouse Development Consulting has been shortlisted for Mid-size Planning Consultancy of the Year in the RTPI South West Awards, recognising a standout year supporting major renewable energy and low-carbon infrastructure projects across the UK.

In 2025, Lighthouse led on consenting for 1.8GW of renewable energy development under unprecedented NESO grid reform deadlines. This scale of development is enough to power around 1.5 million UK homes, making a significant contribution to the UK’s transition towards a cleaner, more resilient energy system.

Alongside its renewable energy work, Lighthouse has also played a leading role in the roll-out of EV flash-charging infrastructure, supporting the decarbonisation of transport and helping to accelerate the shift towards low-carbon mobility.

The shortlisting recognises Lighthouse’s strength in navigating complex planning challenges, including Environmental Impact Assessment requirements and Public Inquiry processes. The team’s work combines technical planning expertise with strategic leadership, collaboration and a strong understanding of the communities affected by development.

A key part of Lighthouse’s approach is its commitment to inclusive planning. Across its projects, the team works to design accessible community engagement, embed biodiversity net gain, and identify meaningful local benefits. This ensures that major infrastructure projects are not only delivered safely and efficiently, but also with long-term environmental and social value in mind.

The RTPI South West Awards take place on 1 July 2026.

The shortlisting reflects Lighthouse’s continued role in helping to deliver the infrastructure needed for net zero, climate resilience and sustainable growth across the South West and wider UK.
